Our group, The Friends of The Flinders Ranges National Park, was formed in 1995 by local and other interested people who wished to assist the Flinders Ranges National Park in recovering from degradation and weed infestation etc. There was also a need to help with the maintenance of heritage sites and all the other things that the few Rangers in the area were finding just too much to keep up with in such a large park. It would be great to have more volunteers and we are so very grateful to those good people who have given many years of service, both local and from elsewhere in the state. One of the important things we became involved with was the National Park Events program and over the years it has been good to show and teach tourists about the Flinders and all its wonders. The Park was unable to continue this program and asked if the Friends group would run it. So with the assistance of Wilpena Pound Resort and Rawnsley Park Station -here we are. Please note: All profits raised by the Friends go directly to their account to be used back in the Park for much needed projects, as the Events program is run by volunteers.
